It is with great pleasure that I can announce that I am writing a food column over at Decor8 Blog for 2016! Decor8 has a new bumping team of creatives writing on a regular basis, and Australia is representing with myself and Emma Duckworth, a stylist from Sydney heading up the food content.Read More
I love the minimalist, bright and airy look to food photography and I find I don’t often get to shoot it. Maybe I don’t attract those sorts of commissions, or maybe that just isn’t the fashion in food at the moment. Or maybe I have lost the knack for highly stylised imagery?Read More
Like the moment I was standing in the kitchen and noticed the gorgeous light that was hitting my cherry tomatoes that were sitting on the window sill. So simple, so beautiful. It just hit me. There was this moment of solitude, like the whole world had stopped just for me to witness this beauty.
The inviting red brings out the warmth and love in every moment.Read More
R A W Chocolate is real chocolate, with none of the stuff you don’t want and all the stuff you do. It is chocolate hand made by Casey Pringle in her home in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria.
I first met Casey at a creative Instragram Christmas gathering last year. It was full of lovely creatives, who were actively rebelling against our 9-5 work society and making their dreams come true. Casey’s dream was to make delicious chocolate that not only tastes amazing but is good for you, just like the raw ingredients she uses intended.Read More
Last week I was shooting for an upcoming book, had this urge to spend my day off baking and shooting for myself. It’s been a very busy year for me and I realised just how much time I haven’t working on my blog! With a surplus of strawberries left over from one of the shoots, (because everyone thought they were bringing the strawberries), I decided to spend my day off trying my hand at a pastry and creating some sort of strawberry filling.
I got out my Michel Roux Pastry book and to my delight I made the perfect pastry casing! It was a nice way to spend my Saturday afternoon and my only real day off in quite some time.Read More
Over the past few months, I have been shooting more Paleo recipes for yet another of Lizzy Marsh’s fantastic Paleo books. The Paleo diet isn’t really about desserts, so the sweeter treats in her book are limited. I was pumped however when a Raw Paleo Chocolate Torte appeared on the recipe list!
I tackled this recipe last week and just fell in love with the texture and look of the cake, (I’m talking completely from a photography perspective here).Read More
This is an accidental addition to my Finding Breakfast Series. A summer dinner I created, that I thought would work better as a light and summery brunch. For those of us who love that savoury meal, with a hint of sweet.
As I sat down to eat, the table I’d take a few shots and served up on just looked so calm and inviting. The Light was soft and resembled the summer rain we’d just had and hot breeze that was moving through our apartmentRead More
Earlier this month, I was lucky enough to shoot Cannings Free Range Butcher’s simply beautiful raw meat range for their website upgrade. It was such a fun experience, and working with the gorgeous, fresh cuts of meat was like creating artwork. Founder, Sam, was there with me for the two days we slogged through over 100 products, freshly cutting each piece of meat for me to perfectly show its character.Read More
It’s a real novelty when I get to prop shop for a job. The dream is that one day I will have a large prop collection of my own, but for now whenever I have commissions to work on, I love concepting and picking pieces that will add to the story.
Having full creative control and getting to pick out props is like being in a candy store to me! When I pick up props that I adore, I like to reuse them in a shoot of my own before I need to take them back.Read More
